Mindset Monday: Being Good … At The Right Time

I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy watching the Voice.  Many people I talk to are mesmerized by the talent of the singers … for me it all about peeking in on the coaching that goes on.  I love hearing the coaches share their experience, knowledge, and wisdom with their team members.

Each coach brings in a guest coach to provide the singers with different perspectives and insights.  Céline Dion was invited by Gwen Stefani to work with her team.

SIDE NOTE:  Last year Nick was driving in East Henderson and looked over at the Porsche next to him and Céline was driving … gotta love who you run into in Vegas!

When one of the Gwen’s team members finished his song, Céline encouraged him to open up and sign more freely — this is what she said:

Céline wasn’t talking about behavior … she was talking about performance.

So what type of performing do you and I do?  Our jobs, our relationships, our hobbies … can you think of anything else?

We don’t have to be good (or great) all the time — that creates so much pressure that sometimes it’s hard to breath.  So when we take the pressure off trying to be perfect and just let ourselves make mistakes … that’s when we grow … and MOST IMPORTANTLY that’s when we grow into who we were created to be!

This is one of the themes in my Kick Perfectionism to the Curb audio series — AND — it’s one of the struggles that so many of us deal with day in and day out.

How about you?  Are you good at choosing when it’s time to be good — when it’s time to expect a perfect performance?

I’d love to hear from you.  Remember, you can always sign up for a free 15-minute Power Chat on My Online Calendar.
