Body, Mind, Spirit — How’s it going?

So how have you been?  Let’s spend a few minutes checking in.

  • How’s life going for you?
  • Are you eating like you’re going to live to 125?
  • Are you working out regularly?  Cardio?  Resistance training (weights)?
  • Are you taking time for you – resting, thinking, creating?
  • How’s your work/business?
  • How is your spiritual life?  Time with God?  Are you growing?

Every once in a while it’s good to step back and take a look at ourselves — body, mind, and spirit.  Sometimes I finish this type of quick inventory and nod my head, thinking, “I’m doing pretty well.  I’m achieving some of the goals I’ve set and know what to do to achieve most of the others.”

Other times I reflect and find that I’m out of balance and need to make adjustments to how I am treating my body, mind, and/or spirit.

How about you?  What did your answers to the questions reveal about how you’re doing?  Need to make some changes?

Here are 3 adjustments you can make for your body, mind, and spirit

A Life of Worship

I started this Bible study for my spiritual growth and was praying about a question when I realized that I had to share this study with other women.  So I’ve set up a Zoom webinar room for us to meet.

We’re starting this Monday, May 1st, at 6pm Pacific. If you don’t have the book yet, that’s fine, we’ll spend the first session getting to know each other and mapping out a plan for the study.  Pop in any time during the hour — we will be starting on time … go for an hour … and call it an evening.

If you can’t attend all the sessions, I’ll be posting the weekly recordings in the private Find Your Voice Facebook group — I’m encouraging everyone to post comments in the group.  So, if you’re not already a member, click on this link to request to join the group:

Here’s the Zoom meeting link:

If you plan on joining us on Monday, go into the Zoom meeting room now and make sure your audio and video work.  This is going to be an interactive time — no sage on the stage 🙂  It’s all about our lives as they are now and how we can make changes to live a life that worships God.

Any of this info got you thinking?

Let’s spend a few minutes talking about the adjustments you can implement that will make your life even better than it already is.

Here’s my calendar — choose a time that fits in your schedule:

I’m excited to hear your response to these three ideas … AND … what next steps you are going to take.

Please remember that I’m here to help you on your journey … personally and professionally!

Just let me know how I can come alongside you.  “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NLT)

We’ve Unmasked the Content Management Monster!!

Happy Halloween!

What will you be doing tonight?  Handing out candy to kids in their costumes and masks?  Going to the movies to avoid the deluge of candy seekers?  Dressing up in your costume and mask for a party with friends?  Whatever it is … HAVE FUN!

Over the past few weeks we’ve snatched the mask off the content management monster and gotten a good look at what’s going on behind the curtain.  You now have some basic principles and processes to put into practice and some really effective tools to get organized and to push that content out.  Get ready because you’re really going to see things happen!!

The last step to help you take all that you’ve learned to the next level and really blow the socks off your clients by meeting their needs is ALL ABOUT YOU!

That’s right, it’s time to remove the last mask so that your message reflects exactly who you are.  It is so important to be authentic and avoid hiding behind the mask of what we think people want — that mask will take over our lives and limit every .  Taking off this mask provides our followers and clients with a true picture of who we are, so they can freely be who they are.

So let’s take off that mask and throw it down!!  Try these suggestions for stepping out from behind your mask and its limiting beliefs:

1. Get to know yourself

Find a quiet place to sit and write.  Ask yourself: What are some of my strengths?  What are some of my shortcomings?  What are my dreams?  What would my perfect day look like?  Where do I want to be in 1 year?  3 years?  5 years?  Try a personality inventory or two and see what insights you get.  Take a good look at what you’ve written and see what changes you want to make to better be the real you and communicate your best self to your followers and clients.

2. Embrace your imperfections

None of us are perfect — that means we have to accept that fact and deal with ourselves.  It also means that when I accept that I’m not perfect, I accept that about other people, too.  If you know that perfectionism is an issue, click HERE and check out my 7-part audio series, Kick Perfection to the Curb.  You’ll finish it with a new understanding of how perfectionism affects you and those around you … and you’ll know what to do to change this mindset.

3. Live in the present and plan for the future

I don’t know about you, but when I get overwhelmed with all I have to do I have a tendency to think about the future … day dream about next year or next month or tomorrow.  I can get so future minded that I’m of no good in the present.  So what I do is start getting organized and plan out my days and weeks.  I refocus on my purpose and goals … business, personal, spiritual, physical … and break down what I need to do into manageable chunks — hmmm … sounds familiar. <big grin>  Organizing your time, mapping out your goals and the steps to achieve them, and scheduling out your day can really help you beat the overwhelm and get your day so you can build into your future.

Be yourself — it’s your imperfections that draw other people to you!

Time to QUIT white-knuckling it!

Many years ago I spent a great summer working at a Christian sports camp near Austin, TX.  So much fun with the staff and campers on the tennis court, in the pool, on the field … AND … on the ropes course … yep … up in the air!

The ropes course was a series of tasks that required balancing on ropes and moving from through the forest.  The course finished with a zip line that stretched 150 yards back into camp.  That was the fun part … zipping along above the camp …

The hard part was that I had to climb a telephone pole, stand on the platform, and then step off …

It was 10,000 ft … well, at least 30′ … up!  I gotta tell you, I was absolutely whiteknuckling it … in fact, I remember my knees shaking.

Ultimately, I  had to let go of my fear and take that step of faith … finally, after a few minutes I did it … and you know what?  I lived … the harness and ropes held me and that zip line was a great reward for my decision to jump through my fear … and literally let go of the platform I was standing on.

What platform are you standing on that is enabling you to hold on to your fear and whiteknuckle it?  What is going on that you are having to hang on by your fingernails? Are you ready to let go of it and move on to the rewards … just like the fun of the zip line?

I want to encourage you to take advantage of these two opportunities to let go of the things in your life that aren’t working for you …

Coaching YOU to success!

Whaaaat? That’s not what I thought!

Have you ever thought you knew what something was … only to find out there was more to it?  That’s the cool thing about looking at something from different angles … it opens our eyes to new perspectives.

Seal Beach

Kind of like the difference between a regular Google map and Google Street View, which gives us a whole new perspective.

In the Kick Perfectionism to the Curb series I get all Greek geeky and share the Greek meaning of the word perfect that Jesus used when He told His followers to be “perfect like our Heavenly Father is perfect” … It is SOOOO not anything near how we define it.  It’s NOT flawlessness or without defect.  It’s NOT about living up to the Photoshop images of Hollywood that we see everyday.  NOPE … God’s perspective is totally different.

The Greek word for perfect is all about being who God created you to be.  God didn’t create us to be perfect in the world’s eyes … He created us with specific gifts, talents, likes, dislikes, and He wants us to be fully who He knows we can be.

That idea can be scary … especially if we don’t like ourselves.  So let’s practice seeing ourselves as God sees us … that means we need to find our true, God-created, selves and live in God’s grace.

Are you ready for the adventure?  Here are a couple of ways to begin …

Are you caught in the “not good enough” storm?

I just got back from Denver and have taken a few days off … it’s been refreshing to step away and do some reading and listen to some great Christian women speakers — I’m really enjoying Lisa Harper and have been using Canva to capture some of her amazing insights … like “We’ve put our hope in Jesus as savior, but we don’t think He likes us very much.”

Wow … that really hits the “I’m not good enough” button.  Do you feel like you’re not good enough?  It’s really common with us high achieving women.  When we peel back the layers of our hearts, we find that ugly monster, perfectionism … BOO HISS … that’s pushing us to live up to impossible standards.  Then we’re set up for those “less than” feelings.

The more we know about perfection, the better we can fight back — it’s a “personal standard, attitude, or philosophy that demands faultlessness and rejects anything less.”

Ugh … faultlessness … that’s impossible … be we still focus on it and then we’re caught in the fury of the not good enough storm inside our heads and hearts.  It’s a battle, but it can be won.

We all know that change never seems easy … especially change in the way we think.  The Perfectionism series and the Find Your Voice group are both great steps toward calming that not good enough storm and refocusing on the FACT that God loves and adores you.

Forever learning … *sigh*

It happens intentionally AND unintentionally … learning is all around us.  When I started writing and recording my new perfection series last month I set out to give you principles, information, and action steps to get you started on breaking free from the grip of perfectionism.

Well, what I didn’t count on was how much I would learn in the process.  Of course, I learned more about perfectionism … that wasn’t a surprise … in fact, that was the intentional part.  BUT along the way, I learned even more about myself … it was eye opening … and that was totally unintentional … and oh so much fun!!

IF we’re open and looking for the unintentional learning we can blow the top off our assumptions, expectations, and limitations and grab onto all the learning we can get!

I’d love to hear some of the ways that you’re forever learning.  Leave a comment below and let me know.

If perfection is really messing with your life, then fill in the form to the right and I’ll send you the 7 Ways to Kick Perfection to the Curb handout and audio series.

It will give you a new perspective on how God can help you become the best YOU you can be.
