3 Simple Steps to Maximize Your Most Important Commodity
As we get ready to head into 2017, it’s so important to get a clear picture of three things:
- Where we’ve been
- Where we are now
- Where we’re going
Let me ask you a question … When it comes to building your business or ministry what is your most important commodity? Did you say that YOU are? Well you’re right! You set the tone and direction for your business/ministry.
So that means when you step back and reflect on yourself, both personally and professionally, and zero in on what you’ve done well and what needs to be improved, you can make the needed adjustments and YOU WILL AMPLIFY your effectiveness … AND … as a result, your joy and contentment, too! <smile>
Here is a series of questions to help you take a look at 2016 so you can strategize your 2017 success right now.
Get someplace where you won’t be disturbed for a little while. Grab something to drink, get your notebook & pen or computer, take a deep breath, and then ask God to reveal what you need to know to get the most out of this exercise.
Now I want you to reflect on your PERSONAL LIFE — spiritual, relationships, personal growth, physical well-being (fitness, food, etc.), emotional health, thought life — and your PROFESSIONAL LIFE — finances, business — business strategy, income, email list building, client numbers, program enrollment, social media strategies.
Choose some areas from the life area list above and think through these questions for each. Record your thoughts, reflections, and realizations in your notebook or on your computer.
Question 1: Look BACK
What went well in 2016 in those areas you chose? What can you have a big party about? What makes you smile when you look back? What was the biggest lesson you learned about yourself in 2016? What ah-ha moment did you have about your business, ministry, or work?
Question 2: Look at NOW
How satisfied are you with the progress and changes that you made in those areas in 2016? You might have made great progress in some areas, no progress in others, and then you might even be stuck in others. Take each of the areas that you chose and rank them 1-5, where 1 is “I’m totally dissatisfied” and 5 is “I couldn’t be happier.” What are you doing right now that is not getting you the result you want?
Question 3: Look AHEAD
What changes do you need to make to ensure that 2017 to get the improvements you want in those areas you chose? Where do you need to make a shift? What do you need to do to see those things change?
How did you do? I’d love to hear what discoveries you made — what shifts you’re going to make in 2017 — how you’re planning on kicking your personal and professional life up a notch.
